Daily News Budget
A news budget. Every media outlet has one, and it has nothing to do with money.
A news budget is a list of stories you are going to cover. It is a budget because it says specifically how much time/space is going to be given to a story. It also specifies where the story will appear in the production. At the beginning of the newscast? On the front page? Wherever . . .
This bit of planning is key in producing quality news. It also ensures the product is completed on time.
As a group, you need to develop a news budget. This should be done at the beginning of each working day. Everyone will then have the rest of the day to complete their assignments. Individual deadlines may apply depending upon when the assigned event to be covered is taking place.
